TradingView AI vs TrendSpider in 2026: 90 Days of Live Trading With Both, Honest Results and Real Pricing

I used TradingView's AI features and TrendSpider for 90 days of live trading and paper trading analysis. This is not a features comparison pulled from marketing pages. It is which tool found patterns I actually traded, which one wasted my time, the pricing reality in USD, EUR, and GBP, and the exact setup I kept after 90 days.

Test Context: 90 days, swing trading and positional analysis (not day trading). Markets: US equities, crypto (BTC, ETH, SOL), and Indian indices (Nifty 50, BankNifty). Tools: TradingView Premium ($34.95/month) and TrendSpider Essential ($33/month). Total subscription cost for 90 days: ~$203. Setup was identical on both platforms where possible. Paper trading was used for pattern-based signals before committing real capital. This is not financial advice. These are observations from personal use over 90 days.

Pricing: The Full Breakdown in USD, EUR, GBP, INR

  • TradingView Free: 1 chart layout, 3 indicators, 1 alert, delayed data on some markets. Usable for casual reference but not serious analysis.
  • TradingView Essential ($14.95/month / €13.75 / £11.80 / ₹1,240): 5 charts per layout, 10 indicators, 20 alerts. Entry point for active analysis.
  • TradingView Plus ($29.95/month / €27.55 / £23.65 / ₹2,490): 10 charts, 25 indicators, 100 alerts, intraday data export. Most popular tier for serious retail traders.
  • TradingView Premium ($34.95/month / €32.15 / £27.60 / ₹2,900): Unlimited indicators, 400 alerts, volume profile tools, no ads. This is what I tested.
  • TrendSpider Essential ($33/month / €30.40 / £26.10 / ₹2,740): Automated trendline detection, multi-timeframe analysis, raindrop charts, 2 watchlists. This is what I tested.
  • TrendSpider Elite ($65/month / €59.80 / £51.40 / ₹5,400): Adds market scanner, backtesting, and strategy tester. The tier serious algorithmic traders need.
  • TrendSpider SMRT Plan ($97/month / €89.25 / £76.65 / ₹8,060): Full platform including options flow and market intelligence. Professional tier.

Where TradingView Is Better

  • Chart ecosystem and indicator library: TradingView's Pine Script community has hundreds of thousands of free indicators. For custom technical setups, nothing competes.
  • Multi-asset breadth: TradingView covers US equities, crypto, forex, Indian markets (NSE/BSE), European markets, and more in one interface. TrendSpider's focus is narrower.
  • Alerts and automation: TradingView's alert system (webhook support, condition-based, multi-condition) is more flexible and reliable. Critical for traders who cannot watch screens all day.
  • Community and ideas: The TradingView social layer — published ideas, scripts, and analyst posts — is genuinely useful for sentiment checking and finding setups you missed.
  • Price: $14.95-34.95/month versus TrendSpider's $33-97/month range. For equivalent active trading features, TradingView is cheaper.
  • Mobile app: TradingView's mobile app is excellent. TrendSpider's mobile experience is significantly weaker.

Where TrendSpider Is Better

  • Automated trendline detection: TrendSpider's core feature — algorithmically drawing trendlines, support/resistance zones, and Fibonacci levels — is genuinely time-saving. In 90 days, it caught trendline touches I missed manually on TradingView.
  • Multi-timeframe analysis in one view: TrendSpider's multi-timeframe heatmap overlay shows what different timeframes say simultaneously without switching charts. This is a real workflow improvement for swing traders.
  • Raindrop charts: A proprietary chart type that combines volume and price in a way that shows buying and selling pressure more clearly than standard candlesticks. Genuinely useful once you learn to read them.
  • AI-generated trendlines are more objective: Manual trendlines are subject to confirmation bias. TrendSpider's algorithmic lines remove that bias and often show levels I had unconsciously avoided drawing.
  • Backtesting (Elite plan and above): TrendSpider's built-in strategy backtester is more accessible than writing Pine Script for TradingView. If you want to test pattern-based strategies without code, TrendSpider wins.

Mistakes I Made Using Both

  • Mistake 1: Trusting AI trendlines without context — TrendSpider's automated lines are based on price data, not market context. A trendline drawn on a stock with an earnings announcement the next day is not the same as one on a stable market. Always check the calendar alongside the chart.
  • Mistake 2: Over-indicator-ing on TradingView — added 8 indicators to a chart and spent more time reading indicators than reading price. Reduced to 3 maximum and analysis became clearer.
  • Mistake 3: Not using TradingView's replay feature for practice — 90 days was a relatively small sample. TradingView's replay mode lets you practice on historical data without risking capital. Should have used this more in the first month.
  • Mistake 4: Comparing signals from both tools and taking no action when they disagreed — paralysis by analysis. Set a rule that TradingView is the primary tool and TrendSpider confirms or denies, not the other way round.
  • Mistake 5: Ignoring TrendSpider's alert system because TradingView's is better — TrendSpider can alert on its algorithmically detected pattern completions. This is a feature TradingView cannot replicate and I set it up too late in the 90-day period.

The Setup I Kept After 90 Days

After 90 days I kept TradingView Premium and cancelled TrendSpider Essential. The primary reason: TradingView's alert system and indicator library are too central to my workflow to replace, and TrendSpider Essential does not include backtesting (which is the most compelling unique feature). If I were to return to TrendSpider, it would be the Elite plan for the backtesting and scanner — and only if I wanted to systematize a specific pattern-based strategy. For general multi-asset swing trading analysis, TradingView Premium at $34.95/month delivers more value than TrendSpider Essential at $33/month.

Who Should Use Each Tool

  • Use TradingView if: you trade multiple asset classes including crypto and international markets, you rely on community indicators or Pine Script, you need a strong mobile experience, or you are price-sensitive and want the best value per feature.
  • Use TrendSpider if: you focus exclusively on US equities or ETFs, you want algorithmically objective trendlines, you are interested in backtesting pattern strategies without coding, or you want multi-timeframe analysis in a single view.
  • Use both if: you are a serious systematic trader who wants TradingView's alerting and asset breadth combined with TrendSpider's pattern detection and backtesting. Budget approximately $68/month for TradingView Plus and TrendSpider Essential combined.

Final Verdict

TradingView remains the broader, more flexible platform for most retail traders in 2026. TrendSpider's AI trendline detection and multi-timeframe analysis are genuinely useful features that TradingView does not replicate — but only TrendSpider's higher-tier plans justify the subscription cost over TradingView alone. For traders who want one tool and maximum asset coverage with community support, TradingView wins. For traders who want to systematize a US equity or ETF pattern strategy with backtesting, TrendSpider Elite is worth the higher price.
